Gwybodaeth am Anghenion Dysgu Ychwanegol - Information about Additional Learning Needs

Fel ysgol, rydym yn anelu i ddiwallu anghenion pob plentyn drwy ddarparu addysgu a dysgu o ansawdd uchel. Mae ein 'Darpariaeth Gyffredinol' yn cynnwys:

  • addysgu dosbarth cyfan
  • gwahaniaethu effeithiol
  • gwaith grŵp
  • ymyriadau unigol a/neu grwpiau bach
  • addasiadau priodol a rhesymol i alluogi mynediad i amgylchedd, cwricwlwm a chyfleusterau'r ysgol.

Mae arwyddair ein hysgol 'Tyfwn ar ein Taith' yn cydnabod bod gan bob un o'n disgyblion fannau cychwyn gwahanol, a byddant yn symud ymlaen ar eu taith drwy'r ysgol ar gyfraddau gwahanol ac mewn gwahanol ffyrdd. Yn ystod eu hamser yn Sant Curig, bydd y rhan fwyaf o blant yn gwneud cynnydd disgwyliedig yn eu dysgu o'u mannau cychwyn eu hunain.

Os nad yw plentyn yn symud ymlaen, byddwn yn casglu arsylwadau, yn defnyddio data asesu ac yn ceisio cydweithio ag asiantaethau / gweithwyr proffesiynol allanol i nodi unrhyw anghenion dysgu ychwanegol. Cesglir ystod o dystiolaeth dros amser, gan gynnwys:

  • monitro cynnydd dros gyfnod penodol
  • asesiadau safonedig
  • data arsylwadol
  • offer asesu, fframweithiau a holiaduron
  • asesiadau ffurfiannol o ddysgu dydd i ddydd
  • asesiadau gan asiantaethau eraill e.e., Pediatregydd.

Nodweddir plentyn nad yw'n symud ymlaen yn ei ddysgu gan gynnydd sydd:

  • yn llawer arafach na'u cyfoedion sy'n dechrau o'r un llinell sylfaen,
  • nad yw'n cyfateb i gyfradd cynnydd flaenorol neu well,
  • nid yw'n cau, nac yn ehangu, y bwlch cyrhaeddiad rhwng y plentyn a'i gyfoedion, er gwaethaf y cymorth sydd â'r nod o gau'r bwlch hwnnw.
  • Nodi Anghenion Dysgu Ychwanegol (ADY)
  • Pan nad yw disgyblion yn gwneud y cynnydd disgwyliedig gyda'r Ddarpariaeth Gyffredinol ac yn dilyn ymchwiliad trylwyr a chasglu tystiolaeth, gellir nodi bod gan blentyn ADY.
Beth yw Anghenion Dysgu Ychwanegol (ADY)?

1. Mae gan blentyn anghenion dysgu ychwanegol os oes ganddo anhawster dysgu neu anabledd (p'un a yw'r anhawster dysgu neu anabledd yn codi o gyflwr meddygol neu fel arall) sy'n galw am ddarpariaeth ddysgu ychwanegol, y tu hwnt i'r Ddarpariaeth Gyffredinol a ddarperir ar gyfer pob dysgwr.

2. Plentyn o oedran ysgol gorfodol sydd ag anhawster dysgu neu anabledd os yw

     (a) yn cael llawer mwy o anhawster wrth ddysgu na'r rhan fwyaf o bobl eraill o'r un oedran, neu

(b)sydd ag anabledd at ddibenion Deddf Cydraddoldeb 2010 sy'n ei atal neu'n ei rwystro rhag defnyddio cyfleusterau ar gyfer addysg neu hyfforddiant o fath a ddarperir yn gyffredinol ar gyfer eraill o'r un oedran mewn ysgolion prif ffrwd.

3. Mae gan blentyn o dan oedran ysgol gorfodol anhawster dysgu neu anabledd os yw, neu y byddai pe na bai darpariaeth ddysgu ychwanegol yn cael ei gwneud, yn debygol o fod o fewn is-adran (2) pan fo'n oedran ysgol gorfodol.

4. Nid oes gan berson anhawster dysgu nac anabledd dim ond oherwydd yr iaith (neu'r math o iaith) y mae neu y bydd yn cael ei haddysgu ynddi yn wahanol i iaith (neu ffurf iaith) sydd neu sydd wedi cael ei defnyddio gartref.

Mae'r un ystyriaethau'n berthnasol o ran plant ag anghenion gofal iechyd.  Bydd angen sefydlu a oes gan blentyn anhawster dysgu neu anabledd sy'n galw am Ddarpariaeth Anghenion Dysgu Ychwanegol (ALP).

Bydd llawer o amgylchiadau lle nad oes gan unigolyn ag anghenion gofal iechyd anhawster dysgu nac anabledd dysgu neu os felly, nid oes angen ALP ar yr anhawster dysgu neu'r anabledd.

Anghenion Dysgu Ychwanegol yng Nghymru – Beth sy’n digwydd yng Nghymru?

Canllaw Rhiant / Gofalwr i Anghenion Dysgu Ychwanegol:

As a school we aim to meet the needs of all children through high quality teaching and learning provision. Our ‘Universal Provision’ includes:

  • whole class teaching
  • effective differentiation
  • group work
  • individual and/or small group interventions
  • appropriate and reasonable adjustments to enable access to the school environment, curriculum and facilities.

Our school motto ‘Tyfwn ar ein Taith’ recognises that all our pupils have different starting points, and will progress on their journey through the school at different rates and in different ways. During their time at Sant Curig, most children will make expected progress in their learning from their own starting points.  If a child is not progressing, we will gather observations, use assessment data and look to work collaboratively with outside agencies / professionals to identify any additional learning needs. A range of evidence will be gathered over time, including:

  • monitoring progress over measured periods
  • standardised assessments
  • observational data
  • assessment tools, frameworks and questionnaires
  • formative assessments of day to day learning
  • assessments from other agencies e.g., Paediatrician.

A child not moving forward in their learning is characterised by progress which:

  • is significantly slower than that of their peers starting from the same baseline,
  • does not match or better previous rate of progress,
  • does not close, or widens, the attainment gap between the child and their peers, despite the provision of support aimed at closing that gap.

Identification of Additional Learning Needs (ALN)

  • When pupils do not make the expected progress with Universal Provision and following thorough investigation and evidence gathering, a child may be identified as having ALN.
What are Additional Learning Needs (ALN)?

1. A child has additional learning needs if he or she has a learning difficulty or disability (whether the learning difficulty or disability arises from a medical condition or otherwise) which calls for additional learning provision, beyond the Universal Provision provided for all learners.

 2. A child of compulsory school age that has a learning difficulty or disability if he or she

     (a) has a significantly greater difficulty in learning than the majority of others of the same age, or

(b)has a disability for the purposes of the Equality Act 2010 which prevents or hinders him or her from making use of facilities for education or training of a kind generally provided for others of the same age in mainstream-maintained schools.

 3. A child under compulsory school age has a learning difficulty or disability if he or she is, or would be if no additional learning provision were made, likely to be within subsection (2) when of compulsory school age.

 4. A person does not have a learning difficulty or disability solely because of the language (or form of language) in which he or she is or will be taught is different from a language (or form of language) which is or has been used at home.

The same considerations apply with regard to children with healthcare needs.  It will be necessary to establish whether a child has a learning difficulty or disability which calls for Additional Learning Needs Provision (ALP).  There will be many circumstances where an individual with healthcare needs does not have a learning difficulty or learning disability or where this is the case, the learning difficulty or disability does not require ALP.
